Subject:		monument valley photos
Description:		Hate to bore or gloat, but here are a few more Monument Valley trip photos. Two photos show views of "El Capitan", a striking peak just south of Monument Valley near Kayenta. The peak is the eroded remanant of a volcano. The flanks of the volcano, containing all the material ejected out in past eruptions, have virtually disappeared through erosion, leaving the more resistant interior neck of hardened magma exposed. Other more famous examples of this include Ship Rock, also in Arizona, and the huge Devils Tower in Wyoming, which you may remember from the movie "E.T."
