Submitted By: yakdriver@comcast.net Email List: Yak-List Name: Alan Cockrell
Date: May 27 2004
Subject: Red Stars over Huntsville Description: Every 3rd weekend in May EAA chapter 190 hosts a fly-fest at Moontown Airfield, east of Huntsville, Alabama. Yaks and CJs dominated the festivities and provided much eye candy for the crowds over the uncontrolled private grass strip, although there were no low altitude aerobatics. Five CJ-6s joined the 2 Yak-52s based at the field. A six ship formation provided fly-bys at an Armed Forces Day fly-in at Huntsville International, which caused many in that crowd to abandon it and and join the fun at Moontown. Red Star pilots attending were: Gordie Seuell, George Myers, Alan Cockrell, Rich Hess, BJ Kennamore, Tom Bennett, Mike Filucci, and a fellow from Georgia whose name I can't recall (my apologies). See the Rat Squadron website for more pics: http://www.geocities.com/alan_cockrell/Rat1.html.
