      Bud,

I'm pleased to report that the tow bar I got from you works great.
Especially appreciated by my 79 year old hangarmate, who can now move
my plane to get his Jodel out.

It's almost flyable here now, although this morning a friend
indicated that he could not get beyond the hangar fence as someone
had snapped a key in the frozen lock.

      Dave,
I know what you mean, I can't live without mine now in the shop.
Hate to report that I got a sunburn spray painting some zinc chromate
this morning. Our cold weather is gone down here in Florida.

      Hi Europaphiles,
Has anyone felt the need for a demisting system in their Europa? If so,
      under what conditions?
Has anyone who has devised a cabin heating system included demisting as part
      of this?
Have you ever used it in anger?
I am considering my cabin heating system from the hot air at the back of the
radiator, and wondering if I should include any demisting while on the job -
don't want to have to come back later to do it.

      Hi Graham,

I blow cold air onto my windscreen and it does a nice job of
defrosting. If you take a took at
http://www.europa.net.nz/363/index.html under June 2002 you can see
      the vents I made.

December 2003 shows the manifold for the ducts on the instrument panel.

You can see the SS heat box on the fire wall under January 2004.

The hose lay out can be seen under Friday 20th on February 2004.

If you click on the sidebar under flying experiences you will find a
link on how I did my cockpit heat.

      Cheers, Paul

      Hi! Graham,
Very occasionally on start up without the knee vents open and "TWO UP" I
have had misting up and once at 10,000ft without my hot air pick up
switched on when I had the screen begin to freeze over also "two up".
However my being in the UK and perhaps you being in OZ you my have
      different considerations.

      Graham,
My website has a view of the method I use for my customers heaters.
Like most systems off the coolers, it varies the temp with the engine,
outside air and velocity. Normally very good at 120 kias at 30 degrees
      F or above.

As for demisting, most avionics put off enough heat that a small fan
blowing air from the passenger well and exiting through a hole above the
instruments (on top of the panel, in front of the pilot) works well for
our modest temps here in the SE US. Jerry Hope said it best, "might as
well cool the instruments and keep the windscreen clear!" He used a
small computer cooling fan of 12 volts sucking air from the curved
portion on the passenger side behind his radios and it blows across his
stack, and it exits out the top quite well.

        Hi Europaphiles,
Has anyone felt the need for a demisting system in their Europa? If
      so,
        under what conditions?
Has anyone who has devised a cabin heating system included demisting
      as part
        of this?
Have you ever used it in anger?
I am considering my cabin heating system from the hot air at the back
      of the
radiator, and wondering if I should include any demisting while on the
      job -
don't want to have to come back later to do it.
Regards Graham Higgins, #261 in Oz

      Hey All,
Is it ok to lag, or wrap some kind of heat shield around part or all of
the exhaust pipes? Mine is a classic FWF with stainless steel pipes. I
wanted to keep a few areas cooler, like near the carbs, and a few other
places. I have read that regular steel pipes can rust away undetected
under insulation. What do I need to ask for specifically, maybe out of
ACS or Summit racing. What have others done
