Michel,
I agree with Kurt, the pictures of your skis look great. I think there would
be a market for the maker of such skis.

Thank you, Matt and Kurt, I'll convey your comments. It will certainly make

sure that the skis are properly fitting, as he did with me ... three times!

Steve,
Glad to hear that experienced pilots and ultralight instructors like yourself are
gearing up to meet the needs of the up coming rule change. I expect that a
lot of ultralight pilots such as myself will take advantage of the possible grandfather
clause, not to mention all the new comers that Sport Pilot will attract.
Glad to see another USUA pilot on the list as well. I "talked" with you
last fall about Avid. Still don't have a plane, but I am looking closely at
Fisher now and hope to find a CFI with a Cub or Champ to train with this summer
for my Sport/Private tickets. Just came back from my home state's Ultralight
and Light Plane Safety Seminar. Very usefull information. I would recommend
everyone check to see if their state has a similar event and attend. Presentations
included a discussion on Rotax two stroke engine maintainance from the
guys at Leading Edge, the Wisconsin based Rotax service center.

If the lack of ribbing is what bothers some, there's a simple fix. Just
clean the fitting up with sand paper, flux it, wrap a piece of 14 guage wire
around the open end and solder it on with normal copper pipe soldering
technique. Works very well and the hose will never slip off once clamped
on.

Bob,
If the elbows you ordered aren't up to the task, go to your local pump &
irrigation supply.
They will have a good selection of plastic & non-plastic fittings which
are ribbed and heavy duty.
I keep a selection handy for my little gold mining wash plant.

I realize that this is a different application, but I relocated one of the
radiator lines on my 912 installation and purchased molded hoses from Napa. Ask
to see the catalog if you think this is an option for you.

Just a pleasure to help, then- did it (the Kitfox engine mount) fit into
the Avid??
Sid, you're so right- long time since flying. Every "free" time, it's
just keep snowing or raining, right now it's raining. But be sure, the
first day with usable condition I'll go flying.
All of my posting to the list is done from home, but I sometimes read a
little -over- the "Matronics site" from work.

Hi Don,
Maybe this difference is not that "important" anymore(?), as they
deliver the new "Blue Head" with a thermostat- I'm not sure if this is
true or not.
Great idea using the EIS CHT part. for such a test, very interesting.
Think you'll only need one of them at the outlet as the input is the
engine water temp., but maybe you're right that two of them at the rad.
port's will give a more realistic temperature difference.
Could be interesting to know result if you make this test.
Cheers

BAD MOVE, now I'll have to fix that.Thank God I've learned the skills to fix

yourself are gearing up to meet the needs of the up coming rule change. I
expect that a lot of ultralight pilots such as myself will take advantage of
the possible grandfather clause, not to mention all the new comers that
Sport Pilot will attract. Glad to see another USUA pilot on the list as
well. I "talked" with you last fall about Avid. Still don't have a plane,
but I am looking closely at Fisher now and hope to find a CFI with a Cub or
Champ to train with this summer for my Sport/Private tickets. Just came
back from my home state's Ultralight and Light Plane Safety Seminar. Very
usefull information. I would recommend everyone check to see if their state
has a similar event and attend. Presentations included a discussion on
Rotax two stroke engine maintainance from the guys at Leading Edge, the
Wisconsin based Rotax service center.

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Dave Savener" <dsavener@austin.rr.com>
I have a 532(just about worn out) in a model II with the old style motor mount.
The front cowling is attached to a rod that extends forward from the motor mount.
I have a blue head 582 to replace it. I have obtained the newer style motor mount
that attaches to the side of the motor. It doesn't have the cowling attach
rod out in front. The front cowlings attach to the rear cowlings on the newer
versions of the Model II with the new mount.
Has anyone had experience making the old cowls fit with the new motor mount? Or
do I have to find/buy new cowlings.
If the past is any indication, with my fiberglass skills, making new ones is out
of the question. It would take me years and they would be so heavy I'd have
to add a nose wheel!!!

Why did you go to the new mount? The 582 will work on the old mount, unless
they did something different with the blue head.

it wraps about 2/3 of the way around the frame and held it in place with a
couple of pop rivets.

I hope you mean brass elbows Kurt. It is my understanting that Copper and
Aluminum do not mix well in a cooling system. Due to the galvanic action
that occurs between the Copper, Aluminum and the coolant.

Oh how embarrasing. Sorry. I suppose that it is
because my father liked green so much. Corroded
copper being such a pretty color?
I should have added that my plastic connectors were
even ribbed. But they so easily collapsed that I
never got to use them for long. I think I put
aluminum in their place keeping with the flow, so to
speak.
