I was thinking about doing something with my nose. No, not the nose on my
face with a tattoo, or ring, or a spike, but my Lightning, maybe a little
paint, or probably vinyl?
I like how things turned out with my plane, but the cowling seems a little
bare.
Any thoughts?
Jim!

I have the perfect one. Used it on my Challenger about 10 years ago.

Jim, it looks perfect. Don't change a thing. the cowl is pr=E9cising the
air first and then the color shows up. Its perfect. Astatically
balanced. If anything, maybe paint the prop tips white so it blends into
the cowl. I hope mine turns out to look that good. Tex

Jim , do you have a closeup of the air inlets in the cowl? I am doing
the air ducts now and forgot what Nick said about baffles in the front.

Normal cruise of 150mph is very easy for the lightning @ 2850 or so. At 8 t
o 10k you can achieve 170TAS @around 3000rpm and about 6 gph with the hydra
ulic lifter engine.

I=A2m wondering what the true flight performance is on the Lightning.- Wh
at=A2s the max rpm=A2s you can cruise at for extended periods of time?- I
assume that the 170mph top cruise speed is max rpm, so only for a limited
time?
-
The Lightning=A2s pluses for me are it=A2s looks (always important and wort
h at least 5 knots), the level of completion of the kit (and therefore the
ability to get it built in a reasonable amount of time), composite construc
tion and the Jabiru engine.
-
Thanks in advance.- I live in the southwest ( Santa Fe , NM ) and cross c
ountry performance is very important.

Go to my site and select Build Log. This will allow you to go to my Kitlog
site with all my build pictures. If you find what you are looking for
there, let me know and I can email you the full size version.
Jim!
If not, I will take some for you when I go down to Green Landings this
weekend.
