Subject: | Re: LycomingEngines-List Digest: 2 Msgs - 01/31/06 |
Jim: Great response, thanks! I am looking to build up an experimental
engine based on an IO-540K bottom end (crank and crankcase) but with
appropriate lighter weight (not K model) cylinders. Not sure at this moment
which those would be, but I understand a number of builders have done this.
You probably know much more about this option than me---I'd appreciate any
information you could provide. The idea is to build a higher compression
engine with stronger horsepower performance than an IO-540C4B5 (something in
the neighborhood of 280-310hp for example), but using the more robust "K
model" bottom end. What cylinders would you recommend for a project like
this? I will begin with Slicks but plan to go to an EMag/PMag configuration
whenever they finally come out with them for 6-cylinder Lycomings. Planning
on using FI and a cold air induction system (if I can find one!). Anyother
suggestions would be welcome.

I know Van Bortel is the best price on cylinders from Superior, but they
don't handle ECI.
Where is the best price source for TIST 04.1CA
