Subject: | personal update from John Schussler |
I have not posted in a year or 2, but still have my XP (N345JS) and fly it
once or twice a month. Last August 29th I flew to celebrate the 10th
anniversary of my first flight. It took me several years to work out the
bugs and get really comfortable with the plane. I used to spend more time
working on it than flying, now I can just hop in and fly. The Pulsar has
been very reliable; no damage or serious maintenance issues.
The water based paint I had used failed, so I to remove it all with a razor
blade and Polyfiber gave me replacement Aerothane. This was applied just
before I moved to FL in 2005. It took about 4 months to get the airplane to
FL, so I only flew it 17 hours that year. Now fly about 30-40 hours per
year, not really enuf to justify ownership costs, especially high hangar
rental rates here. Have 500 hours TT on my Pulsar. But I can't imagine
selling it, even thought I want to buy a small sailboat. Two holes to throw
money into. Still work at the local airport as Properties Director.
Came close to hitting some big birds in flight, and discussed that issue on
this list in 2009. Bought a new Prince P-tip prop in 2009 and believe it
may survive bird strike that the original GSC prop would not. Am happy with
new prop.
