Subject: | odd twist to band brake story |
This is an odd twist to the usual band brake story. Since wearing out
some band brakes during initial test flights 10 years ago, I have not
adjusted or changed my band brakes in almost 500 flying hours. The band
brakes still have plenty of lining on them, but the left brake drum has
worn down to very thin. The left main has always made dragging noise,
so that must have worn the left drum down while taxiing.
Anyway, I plan to replace the left drum only and leave the bands alone.
Just want to confirm that I should buy from Lockwood Aviation Supply
4-1/2" O.D.brake drums-machined, no flange, part number 2211. Unless
someone has unused drum they will send me.
