I have to agree with dave on the wing inspection doors. After such a
big deal was made in the instructions about making the inspection door
for the rudder post we decided to make inspection doors just like the
one at the rudder post under the wing below the flap and aileron bell
cranks. Cut it out, put nut plates in the corners and done! I
don=99t know how you could feel safe without being able to check
that out? Jerry

I find it amazing that anyone signing off the construction of a Pulsar
would even hesitate to reject a builders plan to bypass addition of
inspection openings in wings for linkage inspection, fuel vapor damage
(blue ribs), loose jam nuts, etc! You need to be able to place an
inspection mirror at the appropriate locations inside the wing to detect
any cracks that could develop in glassed structural lay ups for bell
crank mountings etc. If I finish a flight where I have encountered
extreme turbulence, I am not just going to do simply a quick external
inspection for cracks. The original Pulsar plans were deficient in my
opinion regarding inspection openings in the wings. I included them
before paint finish. To not include them is taking a short cut when it
comes to safety.

I found the best way to inspect them was at night using a flashlight.
Without interference froum outside sources the light would penetrate and
not blind me. I never considered any inspection plates after that. In
hard to reach places like behind the seat back or way back in the tail
section I used my camera to take pictures so I didn't have to part of
the Pulsar Olympics again.

Hi,
I am planning to repaint my Pulsar XP wings. I have inspected push rod
links via the flap and aileron openings so for. I like to hear from you
that does it make any sense to add inspection openings or not and keep
the wings as they are at a moment? Other thing what I like to hear from
you are the locations for the inspection doors. I have composite wings
with fuel tanks.

Esa
