So the 41 series won't work? To get you going, I would be willing to ship mine
out to you. Let me know.

Subject: EXTERNAL: Pulsar-List: Searching for Earl's oil cooler
I had to abandon my plane in Searcy, AR and drive home because we could not repair
the oil cooler after the "welder" destroyed it. We tried bypassing the cooler
but oil temps ran too high on a short test flight even at a very light power
setting (it was 111 degrees outside!).
Thanks to several of you who responded to my pleas for help. I'm looking for an
Earl's 61002 (dimensions below) which is apparently no longer in production.
If you have that cooler and would be willing to part with it (permanently), please
let me know. Next steps include contacting Earl's to see if they know if
any of their distributors or resellers have one on the shelf. Failing there, it
looks like their # 21000 could be adapted to work with a 2.5" mounting extension,
though the cooling area would be only 61.5% of the original one.
Thanks again for all offers of assistance.

Subject: Pulsar-List: Earl's oil cooler
I'm broken down in Searcy, AR and need help figuring out which Earl's oil cooler
I have. The oil cooler developed a leak where one of the fittings goes in. I
had a local guy (highly recommended) weld it and it looks like a dirt daubers
nest now with several leaks and pinholes. I'm trying JB-Weld but as a backup,
if I have to get a new cooler sent in, I need to know the Earl's part number.
If any of you have the one supplied by Skystar and could give me the part number,
I would be most appreciative.
Mine is dimensioned as follows:
Fitting centers 7.5"
Height 3"
Body width at the widest points 10.75"
Face width (b/t the tanks) 6.5"
Thickness 2"
Rows 8
Thanks for any help.

Mike,
Thanks for the offer but if I can find something to permanently fix the
problem, that's my first choice. The 41 series is 13 inches long while mine
is 10.75 so modifications would be required to the brackets if it would fit
at all.

Pulsar people are simply the best!
John Sondgeroth in NY had the exact Earl's unit I needed and has graciously
sent it my direction. Rhonda keeps saying she can't believe how helpful
Pulsar people and pilots are in general. I found a gentleman with available
hangar space in Searcy, AR who offered to keep the plane there and gave us
full use of the facilities, tools and even his pickup.
Thanks again to all who offered to assist and again to John for parting with
the piece I needed. Looks like I'll be back in the air in a few days.

Dreaming a little about things I'd like to do with our Pulsar and putting in a
Dynon is high on the list. Does anyone know what kind of weight savings can be
had by eliminating a vacuum pump, associated filters and regulator, and of course
six instruments? I'm thinking (hoping) for about 20lbs, but without taking
it all out and weighing it I'm at a loss.
Also thinking of going to some light radios like the Becker from the installed
King radio and transponder. Anyone know what those or the Microair radio and transponders
weigh?
Thanks
Chris
