Hi,
Can anyone tell me what sort of fuel senders were used in a standard Pulsar XP
kit? Are they easy to service/replace?
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
My XP (kit 464) came with Westach sending units. These were current probes
(current varies with the fuel). To interface with the the Dynon we built
electronics to go from current to voltage. After installing the sending
unit we discovered that they did not work.
Talked to Westach and finally determined that at the factory they probably
installed the transistors wrong. I had to remove the wings open the tanks
and replace with new special order units, but I could get voltage senders.
They do work just fine with the Dynon D180. It has 10 calibration points.
I suspect other kits may have come with voltage senders.

Thanks Dennis,
I have the westach dual fuel gauge, and one side is sticking full though the tank
is empty. If I swap over to a Dynon Skyview, I'd like the fuel flow and quantity
options. I'm worried that mine are permanently installed in the tank and
I will have to cut through to replace them. Arg.
The Dynon seems pretty flexible on senders as long as the output 5v I think. One
guy I talked to said the probes can't be bent properly to get an accurate linear
reading through the rage of fuel quantity. I guess float types will suffer
the same problem. But what else is there?
While we're at it, how hard is it to pull the wings?

Thanks Dennis, That may be when I need it. I have been without the
Pulsar since October with fuel tank issues that I just hadn't taken time
to repair. We finished painting the wings today and I hope to be in the
air by Saturday.

Austin,
I am not ready to take it out yet as I want to fly. This winter I
will let you know if that is not too late. It has 40 hrs on it now and
seems to work just fine. New it was about $600, but I will make you a
deal on it.

Dennis,
I may be interested. Mine has over 800 hours and my A&P says 600 is
about max. Not whining yet but probably won't last much longer. Let me
know what you would like for it.

Chris,
We put in a Dynon D180 and a complete vacuum system as a backup.
I just do not need it and will be taking the vacuum system out this
winter. Anyone need a vacuum pump?

Chris,
I replaced my unreliable Terra radio and transponder about 18
months ago. Fitted an Xcom radio. Very light, good function set. And a
Trig transponder. The transponder is fantastic. S mode. The head unit is
so small and light, and is fitted with an internal alt encoder. The main
unit is mounted remotely, behind the seat and closer to the antenna,
thus minimizing loss in the antenna cable. It is also very small and
light. Fantastic performance, and excellent value, price competitive.

of weight savings can be had by eliminating a vacuum pump, associated
filters and regulator, and of course six instruments? I'm thinking
(hoping) for about 20lbs, but without taking it all out and weighing it
I'm at a loss.
