A few points on the 582 and Peery prop.=0A-=0A1) do NOT believe the ratio
that is stamped on the 582 gearbox. Do a physical check so to make sure yo
u =0A----- DO have a 2:1- ratio-- gearbox.- As an ex-Ro
tax service agent, I meet a few that were incorrectly stamped.=0A-=0A2) n
ot all Peery props had the exact pitch (albeit-they has-small variation
).=0A-=0A3) you must have at least 5800 RPM on static run-up, but best no
t more than 6000 RPM static.=0A-=0A4) here in the UK, if we could not ach
ieve 5800 RPM static with the supplied Peery prop, then we ran in our 582
=0A------(and- flew for up to 10 hours) with a "clipped" Perr
y prop.=0A-=0A5)- In my Pulsar 582, I fitted the supplied Peery prop, b
ut had to "clip" that prop.- I cut off about 1/4" at the=0A----
-prop tips so to achieve the static 5800 RPM. I ran for a further 300 hou
rs with this prop. with-no adverse =0A----- problems.=0A-=0A6
)- I test flew Pulsar 582,s for our UK builders, and never attempted a fl

Alan, I have had the same experiences here in the States on test flights so
I know the feeling. Most of the time, if the prop is going to load up, it
does it on take off roll but I did have it happen once at about 200 feet on
climb out. In that case, 1/2 degree was all it took to correct the
problem. But your are right, the original Perry props were sometimes not correct
or mismatched to the gear box.
In this case, he is using a Culver prop, but again, it may not be right. I
have always liked the GSC adjustable for the 582. It provided a way to
adjust for winter and summer to get peak performance.

ed-Pulsar Series I).- I found a way to very simply-retrofit to electr
ic flaps using Fergelli 2 In. linear actuator.- The actuator mounts in co
ntrol stick tunnel, no intermediate cables or pulleys and no need to tear u
p seat bottom during retrofit process.- I can provide pictures and my-t
elephone number for assistance.
