It is surprising to me how often a subject will come up with the group
that I have not experienced, but within a short time, my XP will have
something similar.
When Bob Hartunian commented last week on Matco brakes leaking, I
thought I would save his comments in case I needed the advice. Today
our EAA Chapter flew to Gooding, home of the Idaho School for the Deaf
and Blind. We have been flying the students for several years now under
the Young Eagles program. After flying six students, I flew one of the
teachers and needed extra brakes due to his extra weight. On the next
taxi out, I lost the right brake completely and ran off the taxiway.
Fortunately, no damage; but a long walk pulling the Pulsar back to the
hangar area. Pulled the wheel and got the caliper back in place with
very light braking pressure available. Really needed Bob's fix and new
pads. Flew home and landed against a 20 knot head wind so no brakes
needed.
Thanks to you Bob, I knew where to look and now what to do.
