Sent from an IPad I removed the engine from my XP, 912- bed mount, and noticed that the bolts that attach the engine brackets length wise in the front to the cross piece bracket were hitting the lower bed mount bracket. The bolt size were as directed in the build manual, but there is not enough room for a lock nut (even a shallow nut) with minimum thread showing. I ended up installing the bolts in the up position. Certainly not ideal. My motor mounts are relatively new, only 100 hrs. I thought I would mention it to others as it is very difficult to see with the engine installed. Dennis Adams

Dennis, I recently had my engine out for the first time in 12 years, and noticed that the bolt heads had at times contacted the front bed mount too. For the same reason as you the bolts are upright, and I had checked at the first installation that there was some clearance. I think over time the rubber mounts soften and allow more movement. I fitted new rubber engine mounts and included a washer under each to raise the engine a smidgen to give more clearance.
