Hi
Happy Xmas everyone.
Just hoping some of you guys might have trim tabs rather than the
spring bias type pitch trim system - please let me know if the details
for this build/mod are available as I found a nice linear actuator but
the LAA (EAA UK equivalent) are starting to pick holes in the design.
I need 60mm of travel so using Ray Allen servos directly is not
feasible. If anyone has aileron trim without springs that would also
be of interest.
Cheers
Scott MacIntyre

Scott, Aerodesigns did not like trim servos because of the added weight to
the control surface. They were very concerned about flutter.

Scott,
Scott
Trimming the position of the centre point of the pitch springs works
just fine. Many of us use a lever arrangement with the servo connected
at about the mid point of the lever, giving 2x the travel to the
connection point of the springs.
Also the very light springs used on some of the aileron trim systems is
not even noticeable, in terms of the stick force to deflect the ailerons
in flight. My system has the servo connected to a small pulley, and via
a cable to the spring on one side only. The 2x movement gain works out
at exactly the right amount of trim change to compensate for passenger
and fuel loads.

I used a linear actuator, very small with 144 in oz of force. Works very
well. If you are interested I have picks and a supplier that I would be
glad to forward to you. Cheers, Larry N852LW
