If I needed to build another trim kit I would use the mac servo switches on
the stick again and my own actuators. The Macs have small travel distances
and are not very powerful. I used a linear actuator on my 40 foot motorhome
to provide center trimming for crosswinds and road conditions. Works great.

Trimming the position of the centre point of the pitch springs works just
fine. Many of us use a lever arrangement with the servo connected at about
the mid point of the lever, giving 2x the travel to the connection point of
the springs.
Also the very light springs used on some of the aileron trim systems is not
even noticeable, in terms of the stick force to deflect the ailerons in
flight. My system has the servo connected to a small pulley, and via a cable
to the spring on one side only. The 2x movement gain works out at exactly
the right amount of trim change to compensate for passenger and fuel loads.

bias type pitch trim system - please let me know if the details for this
build/mod are available as I found a nice linear actuator but the LAA (EAA
UK equivalent) are starting to pick holes in the design. I need 60mm of
travel so using Ray Allen servos directly is not feasible. If anyone has
aileron trim without springs that would also be of interest.

Idling at that rpm is not great for the gear box but being able to pull the
engine back to that rpm is helpful on landings if you need to shorten the
rollout etc.
