Update: I had a shop day at the hanger to figure out the slop/shimmy in the front nose gear. The bolts on the front nose gear shock were tight at both ends-I was able to get a small tightening turn out of them. It was all nose shimmy on the nose wheel fork-again. So, I devised a way to loosen the front wheel pant and cut a small window in the front of the nose wheel fork hole in the wheel pant so, you can rotate the wheel pant back and clear the nose gear fork. So, for future tightening/adjusting, I can lift the front wheel off the ground and have access the the nose wheel fork bolt and cotter pin without taking everything off. I can also, get better access to the tire pressure valve. I then, cover the small access hole with my 3M White vinyl tape with several layers and it matched the wheel pant that is white-if you don't look too closely. Functional for me. I've heard wheel tension of 10-15 lbs. to Larry saying 27 lbs. It might be a little trickier to take with a tighter wheel adjustment, but I'll take that over shimmy anyway. And, it will inevitably loosen a bit. Much more confident in the slow speed rollouts at 40 mph or less. Still like to find a RockShox for the Pulsar. I've been looking online for the shock and spring combination. Seems harder to find as the technology is obsolete on today's mountain bikes. We had a discussion on the left roll tendency that my Pulsar XP has. It doesn't track straight-I have to have a slight amount of right pressure on the center stick to keep it tracking straight. Let go and it begins a slight left turn. Kind of a pain when you need to review a sectional, etc. I usually fly solo, so perhaps the weight on the left seat only is also a factor? Are you using a aileron trim tab(s)? Does anyone have a picture of a small trim tab they are using for on their aircraft and perhaps, a source for them? I have a small trim tab on the rudder-it's about an inch wide and at a 30-degree angle or so from the rudder tab-Is this the same size I should be looking for? Pulsar XP Dean, It has been a few years, but it seems to me that they do not make Rockshochs anymore. I got on the phone to a bicycle shop in California after doing research on line. I measured the amount of travel and had them set one up for me at 400 or 500 lbs. They had a Fox shock that was going out of production, on sale and cheap, it is adjustable and works great. I have a roll trim system that uses a servo to control the centering point of a two spring system. Due to the left wing heavy tendency of my plane, the trim system had to be kept full right. I added an 18" piece of balsa wood which is designed to be the trailing edge of a model airplane wing. It is taped to the underside of the right aileron near the outboard end, with the thinner dimension facing forward. This allows my trim system to remain fairly centered in its travel. The balsa is on the underside of the aileron so is not visible unless you bend down and look for it. I am happy with my "trim tab" which has been in place for more than 7 years (using the original tape). I used a simple wedge shaped balsa piece (1/4" x 1") double-side taped to t he underside of one aeleron. Cut length based on correction needed. Pulsar XP Hi Dean, The Rock Shock I used is quite an old model now. It has been on the plane for 13 years and continues to work well. I was looking for a replacement spring a little time back because mine had a little rust, but I ended up removing the spring and refurbishing it instead. I'm pretty sure that it would be difficult to find the same shock, but anything of the right length with a spring about 500 lbs ought to work well. My trim tab under the right aileron is a strip of aluminium about 5" long, 2" wide, bent down at about a 15 deg angle. It is riveted under the aileron at the trailing edge, close to where the push rod connects, and the rear edge is in line with the aileron trailing edge so it is largely invisible to the casual observer. I also have electric roll trim which works well to compensate for any combination of passenger and fuel load.
