Subject: | Need a new nose gear |
Well, I experienced the nose wheel shimmy problem for the second time on my last
pulsar flight. My neighbor was watching and noted that it was very fast and
the wheel departed quickly. I was lucky in that the engine mount held. The
strut did bend back but kept the prop above the runway. I now need a new front
strut and fork. The fork broke where the wheel pant screws were. Wheel pant
is damaged to, but probably can be salvaged with significant glass repair.
Any one out there with a spare strut, fork, or wheel pant? I think the fork will
be the biggest problem as it is for the smaller 582 wheel. I believe that
I can make a new strut locally from the drawing that Greg supplied, but the fork
will be a problem. I may be able to have one machined out of a 7075 T6 billet.
