Hello Everyone, I am stuck at the Red Bluff airport because me Rotax 912 is running really rough and I have no idea what it could be. It is worst below 3000 rpm, smoother at higher rpm. Switching tanks and boost pump on/off has no effect. Switching ignition hs no effect. I don't see anything loose, leaking or otherwise wrong. It has enough fuel and oil and the spark plugs look good. It has done this once before and after several startups and short runs on the ground it smoothed out and run fine for the next 5 h. Now it is worse and not smoothing out. Does anyone have any ideas? Sonja

Check the welch plugs on the top of the carbs. I had one come loose which ca uses that diaphragm to get out of sync with the other carb. Hope that helps, Bill Coleman On Jun 9, 2013, at 11:09 AM, Sonja Englert <paqs345@gmail.com> wrote: > Hello Everyone, > > I am stuck at the Red Bluff airport because me Rotax 912 is running really rough and I have no idea what it could be. Hi Sonja Check the plugs for soot on the insulator. If you don=99t have a second set of plugs to try then close up the plug gap to about 18 =93 20 thou. This will prevent the spark tracking down the insulator. The other thing you might look for is an HT lead that has rubbed through on the block somewhere. I have had both issues happen to me. Check the compression. After running look for the cooler cylinder with one of thepoint temperaturemeters *God Bless Bob (W7IKT) Carol (N5CBQ) Heiser* On 6/9/2013 10:09 AM, Sonja Englert wrote: > Hello Everyone, > I am stuck at the Red Bluff airport because me Rotax 912 is running > really rough and I have no idea what it could be. Sonja, We live in Lake California, about 10 miles north of Red Bluff. I have no idea what the problem is, but we are close, only about 18 mi by car. If you could use help with tools or anything please call 530-347-4988. Should be happy to assist in any way I can. Can not fly down though my nose gear is under repair. Everett Sent from my iPad.
