Subject: 582 blue head upgrade question
    From: Clark Foster <clarkppt@aol.com>
Hello all 582 Pulsar flyers Is anyone experienced replacing the original gray head 582 with the 99 m od blue head ? I am returning my Pulsar 582 to flight status and have a new in box blu ehead. The new coolant plumbing looks taller and may foul the top cowling. The missing info includes 1- will the blue head 582 fit under the cowling ? 2- what brand and model radiators to used on the 582 Pulsar? 3- any experience with HAC carburetor upgrade 4- comments on the IVO inflight adjustable Any help is appreciated................Clark -----Original Message----- From: HUGH COULTER <ccoulter@wavecable.com> Sent: Mon, Jan 2, 2012 8:16 am Subject: Re: Pulsar-List: Lord Mounts On Sun, 1 Jan 2012 20:48:26 +0000 (UTC) barrynorman@comcast.net wrote: > > > Hugh, > > > > Are they the same as the J3608-1 Lord mounts. Pulsar Friends,=0A=0AA week ago, just prior to take off, I did a mag check and the engine would die on one of the mags.- I since have been trying to diagnose the problem and got suggestions from Rotax techs at Oshkosh AirVe nture which I was planning on attending (drove).=0A=0ASwapped mags, and the problem remained on the same switch position so both mags were okay.=0A=0A The pick two pick ups both measured 168-170 ohms to ground, so they both ap pear okay.=0A=0AThe charging cable's white wire coming from the engines rea r coils, one showed a ground connection, the other was open.=0A=0AI just ta lked with the Kankakee, Illinois Rotax shop, and he said, the open white le ad disconnected and to access the back end of the engine, the engine has to come out.=0A=0AHas anybody experienced a similar problem and did it take p ulling the engine to open the back end to fix the problem?=0A=0AThanks in a dvance to any advise.=0A=0ABest regards,=0A=0ARon

Thanks Ron I am encouraged. Just a few more ques. 1- why did you swap from B to C box ? 2- What prop did you choose 3- are you near southern California ? BTW : I still have the metal jacket plug cap. It is lower profile than th e brown plastic ones and helped with the cowling clearance. Thanks for the help ..................Clark -----Original Message----- From: Ron Koval <ronko@att.net> Sent: Mon, Aug 5, 2013 4:37 pm Subject: Re: Pulsar-List: 582 blue head upgrade question Clark, I had my gray head 582 replaced with a blue head 582 back in 2006. The Rotax mechanic that did the work had to find different rubber mounts to get it aligned exactly to the same prop center (very minimal fraction of a n inch). But note, we also changed from a B gear box to a C gear box so th at may have influenced the alignment. The only other issue was the the way Rotax routed the spark plug wiring. The very front plug cap hit the cowli ng until it was repositioned swept back. Hoses and thermostat cleared with out an issue.
