I considered it briefly and decided to stay away from it. Rubber does
not hold up well long term to ethanol.

That looks like exquisite workmanship!
Would you mind sharing more details regarding your install?
For example, is it attached before or aft of the main spar? Where did you route
the tubes/cables?
Could you describe the materials used in designing the inspection plate? Did you
just cut a hole in the wing skin, are my eyes deceiving me, it seems that the
back plate is recessed somewhat...

Had the same sought of problem on our Pulsar 582, turned out
to one of the wires from one of the ignition modules had chaffed against
the cylinder head where they run behind the HT leads, was very hard to
see but was just enough to ground out the wire!

Pulsar Friends,
A week ago, just prior to take off, I did a mag check and the engine
would die on one of the mags. I since have been trying to diagnose the
problem and got suggestions from Rotax techs at Oshkosh AirVenture which
I was planning on attending (drove).
Swapped mags, and the problem remained on the same switch position so
both mags were okay.
The pick two pick ups both measured 168-170 ohms to ground, so they both
appear okay.
The charging cable's white wire coming from the engines rear coils, one
showed a ground connection, the other was open.
I just talked with the Kankakee, Illinois Rotax shop, and he said, the
open white lead disconnected and to access the back end of the engine,
the engine has to come out.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem and did it take pulling the
engine to open the back end to fix the problem?

In my particular build (Pulsar III) the suggested mount in on the forward
inspection plate outside of the left fuel cell. I routed the AOA and AS
lines behind the fuel cell and into the wing root. Then it was a matter of
routing inside the fuselage to the appropriate gauges and sensors. I used
the Push to Connect fittings. I have enclosed several places to buy

I came up woth another supplier which I have used. They are an aircraft
supplier and have the fittings and the tubing in the various colors to keep

XP and was wondering if I can/should do something similar... the questions
really is how the wings differ on the two pulsars?
There must be structural differences as the III has a higher gross...

I am thinking my XP would take the loading of the pitot if mounted on the inspection
hatch but it only has 4 small screws. My repair guy/inspector thinks it
may be viewed as a modification that requires in-depth planning and proposals
so I will suggest the hatch rather than going into a piece of virgin surface.

You had to fabricate the plates. What I did was cut the size hole you need
and save the cutout circle. I then glassed 3 layers of glass on one side
and trimmed to give me a 3/8" edge. Sanded, filled and paint the same as
the wing. On the wing I fabed another layup of 4 layers and cutout a circle
to give me a "shoulder" to glue to the inside of the wing. After
fabricating and trimming I installed 5 blind nuts. You want to use the type
that will give a little play in the captive nut portion. You have to do
some fidgeting at this point to get the shelf into the wing. Place In the
wing using Hysol adhesive. How you index to get the holes to line up is up
to you. I just laid the fabed inspection plate over the made shelf and
marked and drilled the five holes and marked the location with a felt tip
pen. It is kind of a pane but they turn out real well. If you want I can
take some close up pics to further illustrate what I am telling you.

I have an XP and I have two inspection holes on the underside of each
wing. Checked it out with Aero Designs first who said go head.
No problems after 13 years.
