Using a fixed prop is always a compromise from the start, you must decide what you need the most (you can't have it all) and by formuli you can calculate which prop, pitch, length & ratio will be the best in your circumstances . There is a lot to read on the internet on the subject, and I feel it is the most under rated part of setting up an aircraft. I found it very fascinating and rewarding. It's like setting up a one geared tractor to serve your particular purpose. If your could fit an 'in flight adjustable prop' you could have the best of both worlds, converting your tractor into a 6 speed sports car. Regards Keith D.
