Look at Mouser; http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Components/EMI-RFI-Components/EMI-RFI-Suppressors-Ferrites/_/N-bw7t4?P=1yvf2fa&Ns=Pricing|0 These clamp on suppressors are fairly good but some experimentation may be required. You can also buy ferrite cores and route the power leads through them, which requires a bit more work but has the potential of being more effective. I think this is what Bob did. Make sure you have a good ground between all of your electronics and the engine case, that may solve your problem by itself. Mark, just test the radio with the battery alone. Trying to find the source of the noise. If that does not improve it then try to bypass the intercom if possible by connecting directly to the radio interface cable. Loose wires in headset plugs can create havoc. Ferrite beads rarely provide much help. From: Mark Fox Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2014 8:42 AM Subject: Pulsar-List: Re: Pulsar-List Digest: 3 Msgs - 11/18/14 Thanks Myron I do have an intercom and yes I am using aircraft power to power the handheld radio Are you saying to use the battery inside the radio or run the power directly to the aircraft battery ? If will try both but using the internal radio battery requires charging it constantly of course which is a pain I will try your other suggestions....as I figured, it is a trail and error of chasing like most electrical issues:) Thanks On Wed, Nov 19, 2014 at 2:59 AM, Pulsar-List Digest Server <pulsar-list@matronics.com> wrote: * Online Versions of Today's List Digest Archive Today's complete Pulsar-List Digest can also be found in either of the two Web Links listed below. Charging voltage is determined by the regulator device 13,6V. Very good start characteristic in winter time, once you get used to the specifics of a Lithium battery. If you are connected to the aircraft power try unplugging it and running it straight from the battery. If you have an intercom installed and it is powered by the aircraft you could have the noise entering there. My turn and bank indicator was producing a lot of hash until I did some filtering inside it. Your best source for clean power is to run a cable to the battery where it can do its job. Yes a filter can help but it can be difficult to find just where the noise is being injected into the system. If you have an intercom and a pigtail on your radio you may be able to bypass the intercom for a test. Loose screws on the headset plug wires can allow electrical noise to enter the system too. Clean and tighten all the connections.
