    Hi Bernie, The CAA in NZ has the usual tough medical requirements, and if I still had my PPL and class 2 medical then I would have had an automatic stand-down period of 6 months, followed by extensive tests etc etc. with no guarantee of getting my medical back. I changed to an RPL [Recreational Pilots Licence] a few years back and this has a completely different medical regime - - a passenger endorsed vehicle medical, issued by your regular doctor. Essentially it is the same as for a =9Cmicrolight=9D in NZ. When this was first introduced CAA were still trying to operate a system of veto, and would impose ad-hoc requirements and restrictions on top of the other medical. That has since been rationalised and CAA now have no involvement in the process. The recovery process seems to take forever, but I am now back cycling regularly, and feeling perfectly normal. It=99s rather a traumatic experience though. I should be thankful for the regular medical checks. They first picked up the aortic stenosis a few years ago, so each year since we have been monitoring the progress of the deterioration. When it got into the severe category I decided with my cardiologist that it was time to do something about it.     I have a Pulsar III and need to get access to the lower front pilot side. This is where there is a nut for the last attach point of the lower cowl. Originally this was bonded in place during construction before installing the firewall. It is impossible to reach this area from the inside from under the panel due to the rudder pedals and their attachment bracket. I have been think of the best way to make an access panel, either at the lower corner of the firewall or from the lower front slop of the fuselage. Any suggestions are appreciated.     Thanks Solly. Do you remember where and how big? I am hoping to not have anything show from the outside. The lower corner would be hidden by the lower cowl as would the firewall access. If I did the firewall I would make a SS closure cover.     Ray, The best way I found was two access panels, one in the lower right and lower left of the firewall. I attached them with piano hinges and pins. Fit flush and sealed well and allowed the all important access to the underside of the top fuselage cowl and the brake pedal area. If you would like pics I can send them to you.     Ray, I'm new to this site and only put about 10 hrs on plane last fall with test p ilot after 3 year rebuild on Pulsar III with only 100 hrs on badly finished a ircraft by original builder. I had the same problem on stbd side and used a rubber type insert with a fem ale threaded insert bonded to the rubber. Only had to enlarge hole so the ru bber insert snugly fit in and as the 10-32 cowl screw was tightened it expan ds the rubber to firmly hold in place. Has remained in place after many remo vals. If this doesn't work for you,you can always cut an access cover with n o harm done. Can try find where I found these if your interested but I belie ve it was a marine application. There is no one on Long Island flying a Pulsar and was wondering if you may h elp with any questions I may have. Appears you have a Jabiru 3300 but I have some oil cooler issues which may n ot apply to your application. Be sure to remove the bonded piece that broke off so as not to interfere wit h rudder pedal.
