Ray, In the beginning 21 years ago, I had to seal the rivets 2 or 3 times to get them to stop leaking :) They are sneaky In the last 6 years, I had to reseal my tanks and recoat them as the ethanol I believe extracted or softened some of the resin. You can call me if you want more details 321-626-4786 There are 2 issues....the sealant and the flexing of the wing over time will leak at the root. 1 - I used PRC Desoto 1750 for 16 years then had to recoat and rebuild some of the wing 2 - I used the same PRC 1750 after rebuild So far so good... 3 - In my opinion, you MUST apply the standard fix with layers carbon and glass (last page of PDF) or it will always leak do to wing flexing in flight In the last 6 years, I have not had any leaks after applying this leak fix. I will NEVER (knowingly) use gas containing ethanol again, only ethanol free or 100 LL with the TCP additive. The repair of the wings is not fun :( Thanks On Thu, Feb 8, 2018 at 2:41 AM, Pulsar-List Digest Server < pulsar-list@matronics.com> wrote: > * > > ================================================= > Online Versions of Today's List Digest Archive > ================================================= > > Today's complete Pulsar-List Digest can also be found in either of the > two Web Links listed below. That is a good option, Barry. I bought the aerolife 09-02543 that Bod Hart union has successfully used for 10 months with autogas. I understand now your just sealing the screw heads outside the tank. If you w ere sealing the end plate it might be best to use a sealant that will allow r emoval of the plate. One such sealant is PR 1428 B-2 http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ppgsemkit09-04704.php On Feb 8, 2018, at 10:11 AM, Ray Pulsar III/3300 <rwilhelm@dc.rr.com> wrote: WOW ! Subject: 90 Octane Ethanol Free
My question is this: Is anyone running 90 octane ethanol free in the 912 S or Jerry's extra pistons? Background I will never, ever put ethanol gas in my Pulsar again after it ruined the wings and had to rebuild a few years ago. I have not been flying much as I was living in san fran and my plane is in Florida. But I am living back in FL now trying to fly a lot more. I am using 100LL with TCP. I found 91 Octane Ethanol free at a gas station and bought a 25-gallon gas caddy, then right away he went out of business :( There are several 90 Octane ethanol free stations popping up now which is great. Rotax calls for 87 octane for the 912 80 HP and 91 min for the 100 HP S. With Jerry's pistons, we are at 95 HP So is anyone running the 100 S or Jerry's pistons on 90 octane ethanol free? p.s. The Swift guys (94 octane) were at Sebring and I talked to Lockwood and that is all the use anymore an love it. But it's not close enough to me yet :( https://swiftfuels.com/ul94-map/ Thanks

I am. I have Jerry's pistons and can't get ethanol free anymore. The ethanol is hard on rubber parts, i have had to replace the fuel hoses more often, some after a year, and the drain valves, which use rubber O-rings.. I had tank fuel leaks, but those were caused by improper sealing during the build process. I have done those areas properly now and have not had an issue for the last few years since I did that. Using the 91 oct with the higher compression pistons reduces the detonation margin somewhat, but that would only be critical at high power, very hot conditions. I avoid that (reduce throttle), and have not seen any issues.
