Re fin cracking: I used the composite fin spar and omitted the uni reinforce
d bulkhead, linking down to the bottom of the fuselage is a much better engin
eering solution ,the standard build can only be as strong as the bond betwee
n the various skin layers and the core material, which when you work with th
e bulkheads etc you'll find can be peeled of quite easily.

"PulsarBuilders" on YahooGroups is non-responsive. The main page as well as the
Files, Photos and Conversations tabs all reply with a blank screen and, "Oops!
You need to be a member to perform this action." But the blank screen provides
no option for subscribing/ joining. If you're the group owner, is there
something you can do to kick-start it.
"Pulsar Aviators" on YahooGroups is still operational. I just now logged in for
a browse, and it's all there.

Tim

Hi Tim,
I attempted to make it a public group but it wasn=99t allowed. It did c

. We had a lot of trouble with spam back then and that is why it became a pr

Please try again and ask to become a member and I=99ll try and prospec

Thanks for bringing it to my attention,

I have asperations of electrifying my Pulsar XP. I have pulled the engine
and everything associated with it. That is, the oil sump, radiator, oil
cooler, fuel selector valve, fuel filter, condenser fuel cell level
sensors, fuel gauge, voltage regulator, mufflers, exhaust pipes, carbs and
air filters, EIS system and all sensors, auxiliary electric fuel pump, fuel
filter, everything associated with the 912 which has 700 hours on it.
All above for sale as a package for $8,000.00
When I stopped flying 390XP I didn't have the heart to sell it. I pulled
the wings and put it in my garage where it was born. I liked looking at
it. After a year or so I realized I needed an excuse for keeping it. Hence
the electrification project.
Stripped of the 912 and every thing related to it I think the bare air
frame weighs a little less than 500 pounds. About a 50 KVA motor should do
it. I am now researching and searching for the right combination of motor,
controller and batteries for the job. Not getting very far. Am going to
S-n-F to talk to whomever will listen.
I have a repairman's certificate so when I find what I need I will do a
simple powerplant switch, put the wings back on and go flying. Simple,, no
? ? ? Probably no. But I will face that when it comes up,,, if I ever get
that far.

Subject: | Pulsar 582 Ramp Weight |
Hello Matronics members,
Haven't found the ramp weight for the Pulsar 582 engine yet. Obviously,
some of that would depend on which of the several gearbox extensions
were used. The combined weight of the engine and the particular gearbox
used varies considerably. Rotax says the dry weight is approximately 110
lbs. Does anyone have any additional information concerning the wet
weight on the ramp Pulsar 582? Surprisingly, Zenith Aircraft has stated
in their alternate engine literature the ramp weight of the Rotax 582
and the Rotax 912 are the same. Can anyone attest to that? Thanks for
considering my inquiry. Donn C
