The Pulsar kit came with some big sheets of flat composite and full scale d
rawings of parts that had to be cut out of the sheets. The part you referen
cing is a part that is cut out of the composite sheets.

James,
The biggest issue was the bed mount, rubber spacers had to be different.=C2
- I believe it may have had to do with going from a B gear box to a C gea
r box. The installation alignment we did have to get a slightly shorter set
of rubber spacers.=C2- Also at the same time the wooden prop was replace
d with an IVO 2-blade medium which I had to shim to keep the spinner to cow
ling spacing to a minimum.=C2- Overall, a few surprises that I should hav
e expected, but everything had a straight forward solution.
We also inverted one of the cooling hoses that is routed from the top of th
e engine to the rear and around to the front (because of the electric start
er).=C2- It was not a problem. The hose fits either orientation.
A couple of years ago, I rehosed all of the cooling hoses with reinforced s
ilicon hoses.=C2- The silicon hoses can tolerate a wider temperature rang
e and are suppose to have a longer life.=C2- I did not purchase any silic
on elbows, but was able to route the hoses such that the bends were wide en
ough to not link the silicon hoses.=C2- A couple areas I just simply adde
d a stainless steel hose clamp to insure the hose would stay round and not
kink at higher temperatures.=C2- Silicon is significantly more expensive
than rubber, but compared to the cost of the bent to fit Rotax hoses, it wa
s way lower cost.
Sorry to hear about the long wait to get your engine back from CPS.
Best regards,
Ronko

Ronko, =C2-I'm still flying with a grey head (800 hours).=C2- Did you
have to do any modification to the blue head to make it fit in the Pulsar?
Separately, =C2-my grey head is at California Power Systems for a 300 ove
rhaul.=C2- Four weeks and waiting.=C2- I've called a couple times, only
response has been "they'll start on it in a day or two".=C2- Really disa
ppointed with the service after Aircraft Spruce bought CPS.=C2- Used to b
e a big CPS fan.=C2- Times change....

James,
I got 405 hours on my 582 mod 99 (blue head).=C2- I didn't build my Pusla
r, but since ownership (when I bought it with about 70 total hours).
I had the used gray head engine replaced, and I added a gascolator, auxilia
ry electric fuel pump, and a fuel totalizer (my capacitive level devise is
not very reliable).=C2- I also had to fuss with the engine over heating i
n the hot summer days, by adding baffling material from the radiators to th
e cowl air openings to get temperatures under control (to much air flow wen
t around the radiators and not through the radiators).=C2- Also modified
the engine mount that has the exhaust piped too close (smoked the original
wooden block).=C2- Replaced block with stronger Baltic Birch plywood with
a bigger air gap to resolve baking the mounting.
Also I fly with iridium spark plugs.=C2- Far less build up on the electro
des.=C2- Regular plugs I was cleaning less than every 10 hours.=C2- Iri
diums stay clean in excess of 25 hours.=C2-=C2-
I hope this of some help.
Best regards,
Ronko=C2-

Dear Pulsar Members,
I am curious to know just how many hours those of you that have operated th
e Rotax 582 engine you have logged?
I am trying to get inkling of just how reliable the engine is from a Pulsar

Thank you ladies and gentleman in advance!

Mr. Rick,
That is awesome. I fly in to Picayune regularly with my flight instructor. In fact,
it will be one of the locations for my XC check ride.
Would you mind if I came over one day to see your Pulsar and possibly ask some
questions sir?
I feel it would help me and be immensely beneficial to my learning and building
process if I had a Pulsar and Pulsar Builder to cross reference near by.
Anytime that is most convenient for you I will certainly appreciate it sir.
I am building my Pulsar with the tricycle configuration and I would be most grateful
to be able to visit with you.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Mr. Ronko,
Many thanks for the information sir.
I have not purchase my engine yet and was wondering what is the best gear box
to use. If I recall there is an A,B,or C gear box selection for the 582 or am
I mistaken?
Additionally,
If you or anyone knows where the best place to do business with to buy a 582 Rotax
your input will be most appreciative.
Thanks

Subject: | Re: 582 Pulsar Fuselage Question |
Mr. Alan,
I inherited my kit from a gentleman that completed less than 10% of the build and
thus had it stored for some 20 odd years and he may have forgotten about a
part or two accidentally.
I will make a thorough search this evening when I get home on all of my components
to see what I am missing exactly. I thought I was good to go until I ran across
the "composite extension" portion.
If I were to need to acquire some extra composite board material, what would be
my best course of action to find an appropriate substitute in your opinion sir?
Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated sir.

Mr. Alan,
I failed to mention that the previous owner had all the parts cut out and there
was only a 2' x 3' section remaining of composite board when I took ownership.
Thanks,
Clyde

The gear box choices are B, C, and E.
In the coupling of engine to the prop, the B uses a series of allot of wash
ers and the C uses a metal/rubber coupling.
I fly with a C, 2.62:1.
Check out Rotax Rick.=C2- Find him doing a search on Barnstormers.=C2-

Kris,
I have all three of my fairings that are brand new and never taken out of the wrap
I wrapped it in when I got my kit.l You are more than welcome to use them
for your project if you still need some.
I will not be installing them on my Pulsar.
