I want to use XDP-4000X but here is my problem 1) does the XDP-4000X delay the sound about 500ms? Which would cause sync problem with video?? 2) I'm not sure if MDX-C8500X (or newer head units) will control XDP-4000X 3) I'm not sure if MDX-C8500X has digital out. 4) MDX-C8500X has HX DSP, Crutchfield says Sony's most powerful built-in signal processing package ever. HX DSP has; 7-band equalizer 8 presets (Rock, Vocal, Jazz, Classic, Groove, Talk, Techno, and Custom) Digital Seat Position (5 settings) Dynamic Soundfield Organizer (DSO) (8 presets = soundfields + speaker height/width enhancements) Also MDX-C8500X has 3 sets of 4v RCA outs. any help is hugely appreciated Thnx. ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 01:41:46 PM PST US From: "Dremgragen ." <dremgragen@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: XDP4000X-List: master and XDP-4000X problem --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Dremgragen ." <dremgragen@hotmail.com> 4) MDX-C8500X has HX DSP, Crutchfield says Sony's most powerful built-in signal processing package ever. Yeah, but that HX DSP can't hold a candle to the 4000X in bothaudiophile sound tinkering and options...and what are you going to do about a crossover? I've never heard an internal EQ/DSP that I liked. They usually change the sound more than "fix" it. I like my music to sound natural is I can possibly get it. And a quality I wish other Audiophile head units had... C90 has ESP. I think that if the Pioneer P9 had ESP and bigger crossover slopes, I'd try it. I've been spoiled with C90/4KX and now I feel like it's "downgrading" if I go with something else. :-/ -Brody Z. --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Paul Chambers" <xdp4000x-list@lists.bod.org> Yes, I have a PhatBox hooked up to a C90/XDP-4000X system, as does Matt Dralle (owner of this list). It has some quirks, but basically works. Probably the biggest criticism is that the only disc navigation right now is 'disc' up/down, which gets tedious really first. There are some bugs relating to updating the display on the C90 if the title is long, for the first title after a disc 'load'. The 4000x doesn't recognize it as a changer either, so currently you have to put the analog output of the PhatBox in parallel with that of the head unit. The good news is that the engineer responsible for maintaining the Sony firmware at PhatNoise is genuinely interested in diagnosing the issues and fixing what he can. I have no real info on the Dension unit. I did see their booth at the last CES, but I didn't realize they had a Unilink-compatible version at the time. I'd be curious to learn more too, if someone on the list has one, and cares to write a mini-review. I've made contact with the firmware engineer at PhatNoise for the Sony version. He's finally emerged from under a pile of work, and wants to take a look at the C90/XDP4000X issues we've reported. He has already sourced a C90 - but still needs a XDP4000X. Any suggestions? Paul

________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 01:41:46 PM PST US From: "Dremgragen ." <DREMGRAGEN@HOTMAIL.COM> Subject: Re: XDP4000X-List: master and XDP-4000X problem -- XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Dremgragen ." <DREMGRAGEN@HOTMAIL.COM> 4) MDX-C8500X has HX DSP, Crutchfield says Sony's most powerful built-in signal processing package ever.
