I can't speak to the kit planes, but on my AMD, the elevator servo is mounted to the underside of the baggage shelf right above the middle of the trap door, and the aileron servo is mounted at the end of the control rod behind the pilot's seat (with dual sticks). -- Jay Maynard, K5ZC, PP-ASEL, AGI http://www.conmicro.com http://jmaynard.livejournal.com http://www.tronguy.net Fairmont, MN (KFRM) (Yes, that's me!) Look in the photo archives of the original "zenith" Matronics list. I collected a number of photos of builders' AP servo installations and uploaded them on Feb 11th, 2006. Also there was a recent discussion on the zenith.aero list. Steve Smith posted a picture of his pitch servo installed on the firewall and linked to the stick. http://www.matronics.com/photoshare/zenith-list.html#Top -- Craig -----Original Message----- From: owner-zenith601-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith601-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of K Dilks Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 2:57 AM Subject: Zenith601-List: Auto pilot servos Can any one give me a picture or a drawing on were the AP servos are mounted on a XL? List, Trying to determine where to place Rudder and Elevator turnbuckles. Plans location is nearly impossible to safe tie. Some have placed them outside the tail at rear, some placed them at rear under the saddle...again difficult to get to. Putting them in center console (elevator) is almost impossible to get hands down to. Likewise, off the pedals (rudder) would require a gymnist to safetie. Thinking maybe just above trap door access in bottom. ??????????? Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike -------- Mike Miller @ millrml@aol.com 601 XL, 3300, Dynon Remember, "the second mouse gets the cheese"! Hi Mike, I placed the turnbuckles for the rudder cables just in front of the rudder so they are easy to access/safety wire. For the elevator I placed them above the access panel in the bottom of the fuse as you mention. Both these locations are relatively easy to get to and seem to be working OK so far. Mike, I did place my rudder turnbuckles near the rudder control horn, outside the fuselage.? They are very easy to? access for safety wiring there.? I placed the upper elevator turnbuckle under the saddle.? I fastened the saddle with screws into angles riveted to the stabilizer to make the saddle removable, and the turnbuckle accessible.? I put the turnbuckle for the lower elevator horn inside the arm tunnel, where it is on top and easily accessible.
