Mark Townsend,

I am interested in the empty weight of your 750 w/912ULS.

I'm not trying to create any discussion about which engine is best for the 750, I just want to know what the empty weight is when you get to that point.

So, if you will, please post those figures when you get to that point in your 750 build.

One more question. Why did you choose the bed mount instead of the Ring Mount for the 912 install?

I woulda posted this on the Zenith Aero site, but I have a bit of trouble navigating around on that site....

Many thanks,

P.S. I tried to catch you on the Monday Night Chat group, but evidently there is still a problem there....

I think it is a bed mount because the FWF kit is derived from an older FWF
kit from Zenith/Canada. Mark wrote this in the comments on one of his 750
photos:

"The 750 Rotax FWF is a derivative of that kit manufactured in Canada by
Zenair. I am the first to install one in a 750 and so far everything is
going well, there are very minor changes needed for the 750 over the 650 but
I am very happy with how it is going together so far. You will see more
information on the installation soon, through this blog then on the Can-Zac
Website."

No Problem Tommy, I chose the Rotax simply from familiarity of how well it
works in the 701. A STOL aircraft in my opinion needs two things to be a
great performer, One is simply the ability to swing a large prop the one I
have on my 701 is 72" and the one I am installing on the 750 is an Airmaster
70" constant speed.
The other point is weight, the less the better, though this is not limited
to just the STOL series of aircraft, all planes can benefit with more useful
load.
I will post all figures when I have them, I am installing a battery on the
firewall and may have to install a second one on the backside of the
firewall for the W & B. The bed mount is the same one used in the 650 series
and I have had it adapted for the 750 installation.
