Hi all,

I am seriously considering buying John McBean's under-belly storage pod for
my Model II. Does anyone actually have/use one? Any pointers here? I have
already tried any and all methods of storing things internally but the Model
II does not have the room and I want to carry a lovely lady and some camping
gear to fly-ins, so could we please stick to the subject of that storage
pod.

Bob,

I have one on my model 2, purchased from someone here on the list about 4 years ago. Had to fabricate the mounting brackets, since they were not available then, but it was no big deal. Since I put the pod on, it hardly ever comes off. Don't know how I'd have made the trips to OSH without it. It holds gear bag, tent, sleeping bag, tarp, camp chair and alot of other crap that together would not fit in the passenger's seat. There is no down-side that I have discovered.

I have one on my Model IV and wouldn't be without it on trips.  It doesn't seem to affect my speed at all. I can sure clean up the cockpit by putting a lot of stuff in it. I have had towers ask me if it was a ballistic, and what do you tell them!  Not a good thing to joke about (but I do anyway!).

Mine, loaded with my camping gear, only weighs 26 pounds and fits in the CG range really well.

Go for it!!
