Looking to sell my Engine.
Recently I’ve sold my 601 kit and now looking to sell my engine as well.
The engine is 90% ready for assembly and I could have it assembled, but I figure it’s probably best to let whomever buys it do the assembly that way they aren’t worried about the quality of work.
Below is description of work that was done to the engine.
Case complete cleaned and walnut shell blasted.
Case’s top and bottom mounting surface was trued up to give a flush mounting surface.
Case had head studs Timeserted
All mounting surfaces masked and done with Daytona Yellow with self etching primer base.
Stock Case bolts
All case bolt holes were in good conditions, 2 small one for original engine shroud repaired.
Heat Shields blasted, primed and painted
I have the ARP studs for the case, brand-new.
Crank was cleaned, Magnafluxed, ground to -.10 as WW specifies
Crank was Magnafluxed again and balanced.
Crank was Magnafluxed again and Nitrided by Parmod
Crank was tapped for safety shaft.
Cam is OT10 regrind with Safe gear from Clark’s
Piston are the old style Wisco .30 Forged as specified by WW.
Full set of rings.. the good set not cheap ones.
Cylinders are reconditioned bored .30 over by clarks and painted flat black on the outside.
Connecting rods are reconditioned and balanced from Clarks with ARP bolts
Heads are what the WW manual specifies as being the correct heads.
Heads were cleaned up from all excess aluminum.
Heads bottom non-mounting surface cleaned up.
Machinist check the condition of the heads before any work was done to make sure they were within tolerance.
Valves are completely done with standard valves and 3 angle grind.
Standard springs with aluminum spring retainers and new keepers.
The intake inlets and bolts were removed in preparation to weld the tubes on. Tubes will have to be welded on.
WW reworked Distributor with duel points.
Valve Covers blasted and painted
Oil Pump was modified by WW
Front cover cut and completely finished no fifth bearing setup.
Exhaust Stubs were removed, blasted and painted prime with heat paint (will probably burn off)
Exhaust Stubs will have to be re-inserted
New Exhaust gaskets packs
Full Gasket set.
New lifers still in box.
Pushrods cleaned and checked for straightness.
Pushrod tubes cleaned and painted
Pushrod tube gaskets
Standard Rocker arms, Cleaned and wide selection to choose from.
Rocker arm bolts cleaned and wide selection.
Chrome valve cover retainers as well as stock retainers.
Oil Filter relocation kit if you like to use it.
Over sized oil cooler if you like to use it.
Dipstick cut and cleaned to new length along with the dipstick tube.
New Bearings for the -.10
WW Top cover
WW Bolts
WW Safety Shaft.
No oil pan at this time.
No intake tubes at this time
John Deere alternator (rebuilt), no WW mounting kit.
There are also assembly items as well. Plastic Gauges, sealant.. etc.
Other things that I might let go depending on offer.
Spare parts,
Valve Covers
Heat Shields
6 Cylinders with top fins broken during teardown.
Pushrods.. pushrods and more pushrods.
Various other spare parts.
Second set of old heads if you want to practice CC’ing your own.
Other parts that may or may not go with the engine.
MA-3SPA carb, need rebuilt but in very good condition.
Second engine still needing teardown, but complete. (heads crank are the good #’s)
When I was building this thing there was really no expense spare. Everything that was recommended by WW was done exactly as his Manual States or better. The machining was done by an old silver hair fellow and the performance work was done by a local speed shop with a very high reputation for excellent work.
I spent lots of time on the phone with William making sure that I got the right parts and that things were done correctly.
Basically you buy the parts, do some light cleaning and put it together. I don’t even want to think about the hours I have into this engine and I been torn between selling and keeping it, but since it’s doing me no good and I have no idea when I will get another kit, I rather it go to a good home to help another builder.
I can provide pictures of the parts. And if you specifically want to see something, just let me know and I can have a picture to you in less than a day. I also have many of the receipts from the work done to it if the purchaser would like.
I’d prefer whoever buys the parts to pick everything up. I am putting this up to the Corvair list first and another list I belong too. If there’s no interest then I will look towards eBay and part it out a piece at a time. Right now it is being sold as a complete deal, so please don’t email me asking if I be willing to sell one or two parts. The only part I may sell separately is the MA-3SPA carb.. and that depends on the offer.
Contact me via email with any questions or if you like pictures or this document emailed directly to you.
Thanks
Kirk

Hi Kirk
I know your listing is fairly old but just wondering whether you managed to sell your project?
Regards
Mike
