Last weekend I took a ride to the Baltimore area to help Cody Austin load up his TR-4. Cody is in the process of moving to Cincinnati, Ohio. While I assisted, I took a few measurements and examined the build closely. This TR-4 was started by Chris Bolton in 1995, then it was sold to Todd Winegar in 2006 or 2007. Most of the work on this project was done by Chris and the quality is outstanding. There are no drips, no runs, and no puddles of resin anywhere on the lay-ups or inside the fuselage tub. All lay-ups are properly sized with nothing extra added. Once cured all lay-ups were nicely cleaned up with stray glass fibers and rough edges sanded smooth. The build is real nice and adheres to the plans with no modifications I could see. There is no provision for trim tab servos, the factory supplied cable is currently installed. For power Cody has a Lycoming IO-360 out of a helicopter.
