I finally moved my TR4 project out of the garage and into a kit building hangar at the local airport. Intend to finish any remaining glass work and priming. Then advertise at Barnstormer's for 25k.

Hello Al, Sounds like a plan. I hope that you get to see it fly some day / fly in it if that is your desire.
OC
PS: What is the black strip on the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer?
PPS: I still have a faint lingering desire to start building something again, but at the age of 83 this November I am stymied by the thought of getting half way through a project and then realizing that I could never finish it or see it finished. I reached 475.1 hours flown on my KIS TR-1 today.

Hello Al, Thanks for the quick response.
I am stunned at the use of stainless steel for those leading edges. My use of stainless steel on my KIS TR-1 was very limited, firewall facing and a few other bits and pieces that I don’t recall right now. I found stainless very hard to work with and wonder how you were able to fabricate, or have fabricated, those pieces, and how they are fastened in place.
I wonder how the different flexural modulus of stainless steel and a matrix of epoxy resin and fiberglass would affect the structural integrity of the wing. See here:**

**PS: You do have some similar prior wing structures in that the leading edge of the TKS versions of the Cirrus aircraft have titanium leading edges with many, many tiny holes to weep the TKS fluid. See here:

OC, that leading edge strip on the vertical stab is stainless steel
Which is reflecting shadow and looking black. The horizontal stab has stainless leading edges also and the wings will have it too. Just a esthetic thing to look cool and stand out from the rest.
