I have attached a photo of my cowling painted with Stewart Systems water based paint.
The violet and yellow is metallic without a clear coat.

My TR1 was originally painted with System Three water based paint and and would never have a shine no matter what I tried but your mileage may vary. It also did not last nearly as long as It should have considering it was almost always hangared. Of course this was in the late 1990's and things maybe have changed.
