				Hi jesse,
Just installed your box and the issue remains. NavWorx software sez no GPS position. I guess I might have a bad connection; you agree?

Will FedEX your box on Monday. Thank you again for your help.

Not sure. It has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago. I thought I had disabled NavWorx GPS source and was using IFD540 as GPS Source but studying my wiring diagram from Approach (Fast Stack guys), I cannot tell if there is a a GPS source wired to NavWorx. I am not sure. But I tried NavWorx GPS and IFD GPS and both failed. The mystery is that I have Nexrad weather which must rely on GPS source?
So far, I have swapped transponders, checked my set up in the IFD and swapped NavWorx, so it must be a wiring issue….I think.

Waiting to call Approach guys on Monday to get some clarifications.

The correct protocol needs to be set on both your gps and the Navworx box.  Wiring is the last thing I’d suspect if it was working prior.  The issues Navworx has never had to do with communications between the gps and their box to my knowledge - but getting it set up properly took done work.

 What gps are you using?

Tim At Approach Fastack can help you. I’m not familiar with the IFD box to know if it has an XM or  ADSB weather receiver built in - but the Navworx does (ADSB).  If you are seeing wx on the IFD and turn off the Navworx power does the wx go away?

So far, I have swapped transponders, checked my set up in the IFD and swapped NavWorx, so it must be a wiring issue….I think.
Waiting to call Approach guys on Monday to get some clarifications.

Avidyne IFD 540 with Advanced Flight Systems 5800. I am not sure if GPS position is passed through AFS or not. From my wiring diagram, it would seems so. But setting up NavWorx to IFD is straight forward. The dropdown menuin NavWorx software even names IFD 540.
I am with you; my wiring from Advance is top notch but I have nothing else to go by. Perhaps how the position info is routed to NavWorx might clear up how to go about trouble shooting.

IFD is a slide-in replacement for Garmin 530. All pins assignment are the same. No XM or ADSB.
I see the weather on my AFS and yes, pulling the CB turns off the weather.

I would try all of the available gps ‘input’ protocol options - Navworx
didn’t do a very good job labeling them.

No, it doesn’t go through the AFS for the ADSB function.   It needs a dedicated serial out from your IFD.   It needs to be set for the correct baud rate and ADSB+.   The most common mistake is using ADSB instead of ADSB+ on the Garmin navigators.   I do not know if IFD has the same options.

The schematics are well documented in the Navworx manual.

Have you complied with the AMOC yet?

Avidyne IFD 540 with Advanced Flight Systems 5800. I am not sure if GPS position is passed through AFS or not. From my wiring diagram, it would seems so. But setting up NavWorx to IFD is straight forward. The dropdown menuin NavWorx software even names IFD 540.

I am with you; my wiring from Advance is top notch but I have nothing else to go by. Perhaps how the position info is routed to NavWorx might clear up how to go about trouble shooting.

I believe so, but to be honest, I sold my box shortly after I got the AMOC approved through the FAA.   It’s amazing how quickly you forget things that were once committed to memory.  I went to look for the docs I submited to the FAA, but I couldn’t quickly find them.
