For the registration form for my Avid Flyer to enable it to be
registered in the Netherlands I have to fill in a serial number. As the
previous owner does not know about any I would like to know how I can
obtain one. If that is not possible then I would like an idea on what I
 should fill in. Thank you.

   | If it was previously registered in the USA, and you know its USA N-number (registration number), you can look up its serial number in the FAA database, here. If the FAA database no longer lists it, you might be able to see it on Flightaware. They sometimes show all previous owners.

Charlie, thank you for the reply. It just happens that this Avid Flyer was registered in Italy.
