Ok, I need some help here. I recently sent in my spare C90 to Sony for the
$125.00 flat rate repair, and just got a call back from the Loredo repair
center. They told me that they cannot get the parts to fix my C90, and
offered me an Xplod alternative, of course I said NO. The thing is, I know
exactly what needs replacing, it is all in the main board. If I could get my
hands on a good main board I would do it myself, since I have had C90's
apart several times. These units are so easy to disassemble.
? would anyone happen to know how I could get the C90 fixed, or where I
could get a main board at a good price. The Partstore.com wants $450.00 for
a brand new complete main board, would that come with the tuner module as
well?

I am suprised sony wont fix it and said they no longer make the part since up until 3 years ago they were still selling the cdx-c90 in japan and europe if I am not mistaken. so you would think they would still have access to those parts

Out of curiosity, what specific part of your board is bad? Sony gave me the same story about the board in my C90 being bad, and I tried a different repair specialist and ran into another roadblock. I needed Part Number: 1-577-685-11 Filter, Crystal, which Sony no says they longer have available. I just checked out Partstore.com and they list the part as available, but after calling it turns out they have none in stock. Even though they say they will be receiving a shipment, I can't help but find it doubtful...
My backup C90 is in great shape aside from not recognizing CD's, so now I'm just keeping it around in case something goes wrong with my current C90.
I too brought up the question with Sony as to why they are having such a hard time finding parts for this since as I understood it was still somewhat recently sold in Japan... They're answer to me is that they have no connection to Sony Japan, and that even if the part was available over there, they would not be able to get it here... Very disappointing...
