In my 912 UL installed in a Kitfox III, after about 60 hours TT, I
switched to straight Evans coolant, doing the system flush as
required- all as advised by ROTAX. I have been running very hot
water temperatures ever since- borderline too hot. Has anybody else
run into this problem? Lockwood tech help asked me why I made the
switch, saying they don't do it themselves. Thanks
 Ben

I use the Evans in my 912, works great for me. I have to shield off some of
my oil cooler in the winter months because my coolant temps were at 170 now
 they are back to 190.

				Hello Ben

"I have been running very hot water temperatures ever since- borderline
too hot. Has anybody else run into this problem?"

Evans does not conduct as well as 50/50. I am not flying, but believe this
 is normal on Europas.

I talked to Evans, and in automobiles they want you either to increase
flow with a more powerful pump, or more cooling area on a larger radiator,
or both to compensate for poorer conductivity.

Once you reach higher temperatures, instead of boiling and not cooling
hardly at all like 50/50, Evans will conduct a lot more, this is the real
advantage. Did you calibrate your gauges to see if they are remote close
 to accurate?

Downsides besides thermal conductivity less than 505/50, price, not
readily available local, need to flush, is that it is flammable.

I am going to try Evans on my 914 Europa first.
